| The Nissan Skyline GT-R R32 is a popular car for street racing in Japan, and also featured, among others, as the vehicle of choice for Night Kids in the anime series Initial D.
The R32 uses the newly introduced RB26DETT engine, a DOHC inline-6 with 24-valves and a six-throttle inlet manifold which produces 280hp at 6800rpm. It was built to fit Japanese Group A racing specifications and in fact she continued the very successful racing heritage with several championship titles. At the 1990 Macau Grand Prix Guia touring car race, the factory backed R32 driven by Masahiro Hasemi led the race from the start to the finishing line which caused a wave of protests by the European entrants like BMW M3 and Sierra RS Cosworth. The R32 GT-R was introduced in 1989 and ended in 1994. Apart from the street version, four special editions were produced NISMO, N1, V-Spec and V-Spec II. |
