GT-R R32 - Classic Review

The Nissan Skyline GT-R R32 is a popular car for street racing in Japan, and also featured, among others, as the vehicle of choice for Night Kids in the anime series Initial D.

The R32 uses the newly introduced RB26DETT engine, a DOHC inline-6 with 24-valves and a six-throttle inlet manifold which produces 280hp at 6800rpm. It was built to fit Japanese Group A racing specifications and in fact she continued the very successful racing heritage with several championship titles.

At the 1990 Macau Grand Prix Guia touring car race, the factory backed R32 driven by Masahiro Hasemi led the race from the start to the finishing line which caused a wave of protests by the European entrants like BMW M3 and Sierra RS Cosworth.

The R32 GT-R was introduced in 1989 and ended in 1994. Apart from the street version, four special editions were produced NISMO, N1, V-Spec and V-Spec II.

787B: The Le Mans Champion

The Mazda 787B was a prototype racing car built for the 24 hours of Le Mans race. It used a 4-rotor 26B Wankel engine which produced over 700 horsepower. The most famous of the 787B cars is the #55 car, painted in an outrageous bright orange and green scheme, sporting the logos of Renown and CHARGE. In 1991, this 787B won at Le Mans. It was the first and only victory for a Japanese racer.

Lambo Muria

The Lamborghini Miura is a sports car built in 1966. The idea behind came from the Ford GT40. This specific type of car with the mid-engine placement inspired Lamborghini to build their own super car for the road. The Miura is a name taken from the ferocious Spanish fighting bulls.

An one-off Miura Jota was designed by Lamborghini Development Driver Bob Wallace in 1972. It was built in his spare time, during evenings and week-ends. However, this unique Jota doesn't exist anymore. The car caught fire and was completely destroyed.

Top of the GT-R

With fully utilizing all the resources and experiences gained from various racing scenes, it was finally come to final answer of what the “Ultimate” should be. The NISMO R34GT-R Z-tune becomes the ultimate road-going car in the World.

This Choro-Q R34GT-R Z-tune comes in the Real Gimmick series (RG07, Q-shop Special 2003). The Real Gimmick Choro-Q are more sophisticated. They offers high detail for added realism. e.g. side mirrors pair, headlights and sometimes the hood can be opened to reveal the engine.

Cars The Movie

Cars is an animated feature film presented by Walt Disney Pictures and produced by Pixar Animation Studios in June 2006. The movie opened up strongly and taking the #1 movie on its debut weekend.

Choro-Q McQueen and his transport truck buddy

Lightning McQueen is a hotshot rookie racer. He is a hybrid between a stock car and a more curvaceous LeMans endurance racer. The CQ McQueen is powered with a 2-speed pull-back engine which is newly introduced by TAKARA in this month. Sally Carrera is a beautiful 2002 Porsche 911 Carrera (Type 996). I particularly like Mater. He is a 1955 Chevrolet One-Ton Wrecker Tow Truck. The CQ Mater is equipped with a slow engine which is also newly introduced. Moreover, it jolts when it is running. So cute and have fun.

Skyline 25GT-t R34

The Skyline 25GT-t Choro-Q was introduced in late 1998 (HG37-4). I have it customized by adding the front lip spoiler & the side minor pair. This is my first attempt to build the side minor pair. It is challenging.

Sauber C9: The Return of Silver Arrow

The Sauber Mercedes C9 was a Le Mans prototype race car introduced in 1987. The Mercedes Benz 5.0 liter turbocharged V8 engine led C9 to score brilliant 1st, 2nd and 5th place finishes at 1989 24 Hours of Le Mans.

1987 "Michelin" German Supercup

The Michelin-sponsored Sauber race car took its first victory in German Supercup. This Michelin C9 replica was my DIY finishing. It was customized with a Penny Racer C9.

1989 The Return of Silver Arrow

With Mercedes-Benz taking full sponsorship of the Sauber C9s and painting them silver, it became the new Silver Arrow. This is the Choro-Q C9 (HG24-2)  introduced in 1990 and it has been discounted some years ago.

NSX Production Models

In July 2005, Honda announced that the current generation NSX would halt production at the end of the year; 15 years after the first NSX was built. Not many Japanese cars can survive for a full decade without a major make-over. NSX is especially highly admired by Japanese because it is the first Japanese super car.

Honda NSX is my favorable Japanese super car as well. In this regard, I built this collection set of NSX production models. They were modified from the Choro-Q STD-028 NSX. The most challenging was building the open top for the Type-T model.

NSX Coupe (1991) The original
NSX Type-R (1992)
The best compromise between street and track
NSX-T (1995)
Features a targa style roof
NSX Type-S (1997)
A more refined Type-R with luxury and Sporty
NSX (2002)
Cosmetic redesigns since its introduction
NSX Type-R (2002)
A second iteration of the type-R

NSX was originally an acronym for New Sportscar eXperimental

An Exclusive Diablo

The Diablo GTR is the most powerful Diablo in the series that inspired me to make a Choro-Q replica. It was built in 2004 and was customized from a Penny Racer Diablo.

The Limited Edition Lamborghini Diablo GTR
This race-ready version was introduced in early 2000. Only 40 units were produced of this special Gran Turismo Diablo. It comes with more aggressive bodywork with flared fenders and wider wheels. The top speed of this GTR was set at 348 Km/h and the 6-Litre V-12 engine producing 590 Bhp.

Lamborghini Gallardo

The most wanted Choro-Q Lamborghini Gallardo was eventually released in March 2006 (Import Car Series No. 5). It offers yellow and silver colors. Each comes on a labeled base display case. The last Choro-Q Lamborghini was a Diablo (HG-027-2) introduced in 1990. The Choro-Q Diablo is also one of my first coupe of Choro-Qs collected in early 90's.

The baby Lambo - Gallardo
The long awaited Lamborghini Gallardo was put in production since 2004.  It was designed as a competitor to Ferrari's 360 Modena, and now competes with its replacement, the F430. Although performance is lower than the Murcielago, it is still very high, Heart of the car is a new 5.0-litre V10 engine. The high engine power and torque output permit a top speed of 309 km/h and high acceleration capabilities.

My Love Bugs

 New Beetle
The "second generation" Beetle was back in 1998. It carried many of designs reference to the old Beetle: sloping headlamps, large round tail light and a high rounded roofline. In 2001, a convertible version of New Beetle started production.

 RSi Super Beetle
You may call it funny because this retro bubble thinks itself as a 911 Turbo with a whale-tail. You may call it serious as well because the chassis is Audi TT. The new Beetle RSi is the VW Racing version of the street "BUG". It is powered by a 3.2 litre V6 engine delivering 225 bhp) at 6200 rpm, 0-100 kph in 6.4 seconds and a top speed of 140 mph.

 Herbie
Herbie was a VW Beetle (Type 1) Deluxe Sunroof. It first appeared in The Love Bug series of Disney comedy films since 1969. Herbie is a car with a mind of its own and capable of driving himself. It is painted in a pearl white colour with red, white and blue racing stripes, and sports a big racing-style number "53" on the front bonnet and doors.

MB 300SL: Classic of all time

The 300SL was introduced in 1950s and it was the best known both for its distinctive gullwing doors and for being the first car equipped with fuel injection. In Mercedes-Benz fashion, the "300" referred to the engine's cylinder displacement; in this case, three liters. The "SL" as applied to a roadster stood for "Sport Leicht" or "Sport Light." The 300SL with its unique doors and technological firsts is considered one of the most collectable Mercedes-Benzes of all time.

Drift Mania!

The S15 Silvia is a rear-wheel-drive sports coupe, powered by Nissan's SR20DET; a 2.0 litre in-line 4 cylinder turbocharged engine with air-to-air intercooler that delivers a power output of 250 horsepower. S15 is one of the top drift cars and being active in the production car drifting series, like D1GP, with great performance.

 About My Work
This is a replica model of a S15 Silvia super street racer. It was originate from a "仕上" Silvia. I have it modified by adding a front spoiler, a carbon hood and a GT Wing. The most challenging work is to build a balanced GT Wing!

Twins Sisters: Passo/Boon

The Passo/Boon is jointly developed by Toyota and her subsidiary Daihatsu with a combination of the strengths of each company - Toyota's automobile development technology and quality control strength plus Daihatsu's small car development technology and production expertise. Therefore, Passo and Boon are the same car with little deviations in packaging.

(P.S. Boon is a sound that Japanese children use to imitate a car.)

All for Safety

The safety car's main function, as its name implies, is to assist in maintaining safe track conditions. If an accident or incident occurs that is not severe enough to warrant stopping the race, but the safety car will be called on to the circuit to slow the cars down. It will come on to the circuit with its orange lights on and all drivers must form a queue behind it with no overtaking allowed. It is usually driven by an experienced circuit driver and carries an observer who is in permanent radio contact with race control.
